style and science might not have much in common at first sight.

reno inchenko (the british designer behind fashion label white trumpet) makes the connection with his retro-futuristic take on fashion.

with an HMD in pattern cutting and garment construction under his belt, inchenko started off by creating his own t-shirt label in 2001.

but he’s also a music addict and he promptly enrolled in a BA in sound design.

in 2007, inchenko created white trumpet with his partner, french interior designer julie rouzioux.

rouzioux studied art history and architecture in paris and turin, before completing a master’s degree in fashion history.

with a solid flair for the zeitgeist, she has always loved vintage clothes and car boot sales.

together, the sound and interior designers dreamed up garments composed of basic shapes and simple soft fabric.

they created a wearable and casual urban style that is also sophisticated and highly original.

reno’s obsession with triangles is patent in the first SS 2008 womenswear collection, which established white trumpet’s signature

features such as intricate folding, rivets and geometric constructions.

the avant-garde and world-renowned US store opening ceremony noticed the white trumpet SS 2008 collection at a fashion week trade

show in paris. they were the first to stock the line in NYC and LA.

in the UK, white trumpet’s SS 2009 collection was spotted by edit, who offered it in its topshop concession, a pop-up boutique

showcasing selected young international designers.
